This page is my sonobello journey.
Why did I choose Sonobello? My facebook friend, who is a dance instructor as well, shared her journey. I was interested to learn more and watched lots of videos and spent time on their site. I knew I didn't want a tuck because they move around your muscles. This was perfect for me. My consult was very quick to explain what they would do. I said yes and took the next day booking. If you want to know the price, it's unique to you. It's custom. The lower your bmi is though, the cheaper it is. Just so you know. Mine was very low. Whatever we paid for it, is worth it for me. I wanted this done for decades. I'm elated. In Las Vegas, Sonobello has an office that has it's surgery centers in it. Everyone is wonderful there. Very kind.
Rob waited about 4 hours for me in their family waiting area. It had wifi and tv and it was really nice. He just worked from there. You do not have to have someone stay with you, but someone must pick you up.
What I had done:
Tri sculpt laser lipo on my waist , midsection abs.
AB-EX skin removal/tummy tuck
Age: 57 (58 in August)
Why: It's not super important why but as a fitness professional, I'd rather clarify. I've had loose skin on my lower abs since puberty. I had two children. I've gained and lost weight several times. In the last 2 years I had new medication and that contributed to weight gain plus, the post menopause belly spread came on so fast. I can keep it at bay but the loose skin just made it so frustrating.
What I did: I did everything possible. I train, dance, do aerial. I prepped 40 weeks for a bikini show. I cut out all sugar and ate fresh. I lowered my A1C and cholesterol. I took control of my health and my mental health. This was the exact perfect time for me, because my mental health is in a very good place. I don't think I would have chosen it if I were still struggling with eating/body image issues. You have to make the decision to eat well and train to keep your results. The other fat cells in your body will surely pick of the slack for the fat cells they remove. My eating is in a fantastic place. No judgement to others who do this and don't eat as they recommend. I just felt peaceful.
What happened. My midsection began to look like I was pregnant. At my consult, they told me that it just hit the wall and that fat loss isn't the issue. It is the upper loose skin and gravity. We discussed options.
I had the surgery the next day. This page will serve as my transformation page for recovery and beyond.
How I prepped myself for surgery. I did a ritual of love for my body. I told her how much I love and appreciate all she has done for me. I told her that removing the skin was not because I hate her, but that she served me well with having my children and my life. Gratitude as we move forward for all the things my body will do because I'm going to be able to be a better aerialist and athlete. I vowed to never hate on my body and only show her love.

The surgery. I only took this pic. I opted not to do any 'before' pics in the facility. The lighting was horrible. lol
I had a 2 hour consult on Thursday.
I came in at 1pm Friday and prepped for surgery. I took a bunch of pills. Xanax, Percocet, nausea meds and antibiotics. Doc came in and drew on my body with a sharpie. I went to the room and they covered me up except for the area they were working on. Even my face and I was glad. They were playing 90s tunes in the surgery. It was cold but I was ok. The bed was kind of warm.
What hurt. Numbing with the needle that pushes lidocaine under the skin. That took 1 hour. It was uncomfortable. The rest was not painful. I was awake for the lipo. I do not remember anything past that. Rob said at home I ate a whole ass pot pie. I don't remember anything until Sunday. He said I was jabbering. I had pain pills, antibiotics and arnica. I slept a lot. We have an adjustable bed so I sleep like it's a lazy boy chair. They do recommend that. As far as would you be ok in the surgery being awake. You are awake-adjacent. lol
Yes. I didn't mind it at all. I mean, they told me I would probably fall asleep for the skin removal. I'm glad about that. If I just did the lipo, that would be pretty easy. I'd do that again in a heart beat.
Laser lipo goes in and melts the fat and it gets suctioned out. But, that builds collagen. When you remove fat, it leaves loose skin. They contoured it to my body and created a new belly button, waist, and tightened it up. Once they removed the skin, they removed a lot of the lipo wounds. That's pretty much it.

This is Wednesday May 24. I'm looking more like myself.
Super swollen for sure. They took 5 pounds out but I weight the same as when I went to surgery. 145. |
I am healing really fast. I feel much better and I am getting used to walking. On Monday, I was told to get up and walk for about 3 hours of the day. Just moving. I cleaned and rested. Walked outside for about 10 min. I increased that daily for the full next week.

September. I'm not at 'show weight' Obviously.
I increased my calories from when I wasn't training. The 6 weeks I didn't life I had lowered my macros. I'm on solid regular off season macros now. I'm still at 144. But I'm NO way close to stage.
I have no fat on my mid section and my abs are carved out. I'm starting prep in October.
I have clients who had this done. Their scars are hardly visble. I am Irish and pale. My scars are always more pronounced. It will depend on YOU.
I will be fully healed at about 6 months.
